| Ka'anpaali Golf Resort's $13-million,
multi-year renovation of the 36-hole facility is a complete undertaking by Ka'anapali Golf Resort to pay tribute to the Hawaiian culture and history
of the royal land which is home of its award-winning golf courses.
The new beginning of the legendary golf resort course is marked with a new golf resort logo and a renaming of both courses to their original names:
the Tournament North Course is the Royal Ka'anapali Course and the Resort South Course is the Ka'anapali Kai Course. |
 |
The complete reworking of the Ka'anapali Kai Course, the "nip & tuck" enhancements of the Robert Trent Jones, Sr.-designed Royal Ka'anapali Course and the
remodeling of the Golf |
| and Resort Shop and the teaching facility and practice range add a refreshing look and feel to Ka'anapali Beach Resort.
Golfers are not only beneficiaries of the physical course improvements, they also enjoy a genuine Hawaiian experience when golfing in Ka'anapali.
The Resort's starter gives each guest a brief history of the area prior to their golf round and each player is presented with one of eight
collector ball markers. Each ball marker is imprinted with a Hawaiian word or phrase of Hawaiian significance.
For example, malama which means to protect and care for. The ball markers are keepsakes or gifts to share with family and friends at home.
On the Royal Ka'anapali Course, each hole has been renamed and a historical marker is placed on site to explain a Hawaiian name or phrase.
The famed 18th hole is given, a hui hou, which translates in English to...until we meet again.
Used by Hawaiians past and present to say goodbye, a hui hou infers there will be a reunion, we will meet again, our goodbye is not forever. |

 |
|
First celebrated in 1990, Maui's famed crop, the Maui Onion, remains at the center of a two-day extravaganza that brings thousands of kama'aina
(locals) and visitors together around the cross-cultural themes of agriculture, joy, and good food.
Traditionally, children and adults get serious in a 60-second Maui Onion eating contest,
juicy Maui onion rings are fried crisp and golden hot by the Maui Onion Growers Association farmers,
and diverse booths showcase Maui's fresh produce and agricultural pride.
Chefs demonstrate cooking techniques and compete for the best onion recipes, farmers talk story with city folk,
and of course you can taste onion-themed foods, play onion-themed games, or just listen to island music and enjoy the fun.
A signature event for Whalers Village, the Festival is free.

as well as the floral beauty and idyllic, sweet-scented ambience of the beachside paradise.

Humpback Whales
|
 |
|
With ideal climate all year round - sunny, with little variation in temperature day or night, winter or summer -
it's easy to forget that Ka'anapali has its annual patterns, its own kind of seasons.
For example, the yearly arrival of the humpback whales marks an important season.
Each November or so, an ever-increasing population of these amazing mammals migrates from sub-Arctic waters to the protected sea channel off
Maui's leeward shore. They stay to give birth and mate before hunger urges them back, each spring, to the feeding areas in the north.
While humpback whales can be spotted from your hotel lanai or Ka'anapali beach, whale watch excursions are the number one activity on
Maui during whale season, January - May. Beach Activities of Maui (BAM) is the largest operator of recreational and beach activities
and poolside services in Ka`anapali and offers its own boat charters and sailing adventures. kaanapaliresort.com/WhatToDo
